Music has always tantalized the mind, body and soul through its energy, tranquillity, and inspiration. In Hawaii, children and adults alike reach for the ukulele–Hawaii’s “jumping flea” instrument–to create these same experiences. Through the ukulele’s acoustic sounds, they also gain a wealth of musical creativity, energy and, most of all, lots of fun.
Since 1974, Roy Sakuma Ukulele Studios have been providing an opportunity for enthusiasts to understand and enjoy the art of ukulele playing. Roy Sakuma, Hawaii’s foremost ukulele innovator, has developed a unique and creative method that enables students to easily learn combinations of picking, chording, and strumming. This method allows students to sound quite impressive with limited theoretical knowledge. Roy Sakuma Ukulele Studios widens the learner’s experience by including musical literature not only from Hawaiiana, but also from pop and rock, theater, motion pictures, classics, and even jazz.
